Xp validating identity problem

What is strange though is that my netbook is connecting to our home network - which requires no password certificate.I have unticked the Hi i also have a problem with my wireless connection.To resolve i went to the manufacturer site and downloaded the latest drivers for the wireless card, and any other drivers i could. I had the same problem with a toshiba satellite p30 running windows xp pro sp3 with an atheros 5004x wireless card.I tried every solution I could find on the net but nothing worked.To fix, you go into the properties page of your wireless connection, go to "Wireless Networks" tab and then to Properties of the chosen wireless network you are trying to connect to.Then go to "authentification" tab and untick the box saying "Enable IEEE802.1x to the availiable network" and that should solve your problem Graham UKRight, Graham's solution worked for me.I have a laptop with a Dell D630 with Wi Fi power switch on the side.

When setting up WPA you will see the option for either a radius server (Enterprise, and you see this in the corporate environment) or a place to enter a passphrase (Pre Shared Key, PSK).

I had an unsecure network connection so I changed the security settings of my tp-link router from WEP to WAP-TKIP. after that, i changed my network settings to the same WAP-TPIK option. It just says "validating identity" and does not ask for a passkey at all. thanks You want to make sure you are using the same version of WPA on each side.
